Black Currant Chicken: Pole Cat Hollow Farm chicken, black currant sauce, and fresh black currants

Garden Party: Fresh cucumber and mint mocktail with a chili lime simple syrup, Tait Farm lime mint shrub, fresh lime juice, and Fevertree soda

At first glance, Chef Brenda Palmer’s Black Currant Chicken seems simple. Local Pole Cat Hollow Farm chicken seasoned with salt and pepper. A black currant sauce and fresh — we mean picked right outside the building today fresh! — berries. But the dish is bursting with flavor moments that are cheerful, sweet, tangy, and savory and while the ingredient list is not long, the quality and freshness of those ingredients makes all the difference. These were bites we’ll remember for a while!

The Garden Party, this year’s beverage offering, features fresh cucumber and mint and could be described as the mojito’s far more interesting cousin. Served as a mocktail with the option to add a spirit of choice, a chili simple syrup, Tait Farm lime mint shrub, fresh lime juice, and Fevertree soda topper come together to form a refreshing, complex, summery sip with a little hit of heat that lingers just long enough. (Oh, and it’s beautiful to boot.)
