When Andy Lee started at Penn State, he knew he wanted to open his own franchise. He also knew he wanted to do it in State College. “I always knew I wanted to come back,” he said.

As a Division III soccer student-athlete at Penn State Berks, he cooked weekly meals for his teammates, who raved over his Korean flavors. “When I cooked something, they had to eat it, no questions,” he said. “They all said, you need to do this more, it brings people together.”

He opened Tasty K in October of 2023 and says it’s been great. “Our neighborhood is fantastic. We’re going to make it famous.”

Check it out for Happy Valley Restaurant Week when Tasty K will be featuring a new Cheesy Rub in addition to the traditional red gochujang-based sauce or black soy-based sauces. “We’re trying this for Restaurant Week and then it won’t be available again until the students come back.”
