The Corner Room may be nearly 100 years old, but the downtown State College staple is anything but stale. Kitchen Manager Scott Shive, who has been at the restaurant for 15 years, through the recent Hotel State College ownership transition during the pandemic, says he and his team “have been pushing for better quality food.” And it’s paying off: “Everyone has really been enjoying our fresh menu.”
For Restaurant Week, The Corner Room is featuring a Creole Mac and Cheese with Smoked Chicken Thighs. “We’ve been dialing in some recipes on the smoker,” Scott said.
The bar program is also trying some new things this summer, with Pina Coladas and Strawberry Daiquiris in the slushie machines (both can be alcoholic or not). Also on the summer drink menu is a Spiked Strawberry Lemonade with Stateside Vodka out of Philly – General Manager Kate Hufton said that has “just taken off.”
